Hi, we’re the Sterk family! We started talking about international adoption before we were even married. We always thought we would have biological children and then adopt. As we worked through some fertility issues, including failed in vitro, we began to look into adopting. When we accepted the referral for our oldest son, Eli, we knew Stephanie was pregnant. With several miscarriages in our past, we decided to move forward with his adoption assuming this pregnancy would fail like the others. Long story short, Anna was born on January 10th, 2008. We left on February 3rd, 2008 for Guatemala to get Eli. In 2010 and 2013 we were blessed with the births of Katie and Jack. We then began to pray seeking God’s will for our family.
We were in agreement that God had a little girl in mind from Ethiopia that would become part of our family. After waiting two years on a wait list, we received a referral for a precious 2 month old girl in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. At the time, we were told our paper work would be ready in a matter of 2-3 months. After waiting over 2 years (783 days to be exact) we have finally received the necessary paper work to submit our case to both the Ethiopian Government and the US Immigration office. While we do not claim to understand why our case has been delayed, we do know God has a plan and purpose for the life of this precious little girl. She has a home, parents, and a family that loves her dearly. Please join us in prayer for her to be able to come home.
