Hello! We are Mitchell and Olivia and we are adopting!
We met in 2016, fell in love right away and married in 2017. We always knew that adoption would be something we wanted to pursue down the road. We thought we would have a few kids biologically first, but God had bigger plans! Olivia was diagnosed with endometriosis and PCOS and was unable to carry past 6-8 weeks. After multiple miscarriages and doctors concern, we knew why God laid adoption on our hearts. Adoption is a beautiful way to start and grow our family, we wouldn’t have it any other way.
Adoption has proven to be a rollercoaster of ups and downs. The cost and emotional hurt being the “downs”. But the “ups” are so worth it. Through this process we have become a stronger couple, becoming more reliant on God and each other. We currently returned home from a failed placement. We traveled to Mississippi at the end of January 2020 to meet and take home a beautiful baby boy. We cared for him from birth to 28 hours. We loved him so much. Unfortunately, the birthmother changed her mind and decided to parent him. We were devastated. We are unsure why things turned out the way they did, but we know God has a plan for us and we are trusting him!
With the failed placement we did lose a portion of our adoption funds by paying for travel, food and hotels and our lawyers travel expenses as well. The support from our community and Raise the Dough is so appreciated in these times of need! Our lawyers have given us an estimated cost of $44,000. That number includes lawyer fees, court and filing fees, birthmother living expenses and more. The amount is so daunting and can scare some away from adopting. But we have given those fears to God and we know he will provide; we only need to ask!
Thank you for taking the time to get to know us. We appreciate your support and prayers! We can’t wait to tell our future child about all the people who supported us and loved them!
