Raise the Dough hosted their 3rd Annual Adoption Fundraiser at 7:30 a.m. Friday, June 3 at the Silveus Insurance location in Warsaw. The fundraiser is set up to help Raise the Dough raise money for families wishing to adopt.

Raise the Dough is a nonprofit organization with a mission to “raise funds for adoption because no child should be without a parent.” The organization uses America’s love for doughnuts to prompt awareness of its mission and encourage donations.

The staff collect customers’ orders for doughnuts from doughnut shops such as Rise’n Roll, Krispy Kreme and Wabash Donut Shoppe, receiving a financial gift from every order. The fundraiser is specifically held on National Doughnut Day.

People came and went to pick up their doughnut orders Friday morning, stopping to talk to Tobias Forshtay, founder of Raise the Dough, and families who are benefitting from the fundraiser. The financial goal for this event was $30,000 to meet the needs of those families. Clearwater Car Wash in Warsaw has agreed to support Raise the Dough by donating two dollars from every car washed on June 6.

Throughout the Raise the Dough fundraiser, guests were offered coffee and gourmet doughnuts prepared by Hannah Scantlen with the help of her mom, Vikky. Guests were also given a chance to meet this year’s fund recipients Daniel and Jessica Manduka, Tim and Carrie Clothier and Joel and Becky Roman.

A coloring booth and a doughnut topping station were set up to entertain kids. Flyin Brian from the Oldies 101.1 entertained the adults from his bus.

Raise the Dough partners with families by reviewing their applications. To adopt a child within the United States, a family would have to gather $10,000 to $45,000. Last year’s event sold about 150 dozen doughnuts.
